You're probably thinking, why does she hate braids? Braids are my shit! What am I supposed to do with my dirty hair?! No honey, I don't hate braids. I just hate seeing a beautiful braid ending like this (this is the least hideous rubber band I had at my desk).
So instead, we are going to elevate the end of your braid by leaving it loose! Sounds stupid, like why did I even braid my hair in the first place... but never fear! It's time to learn a new use for bobby pins.
Start by braiding your hair tight all the way down as far as you can manage. Grab a few bobby pins in a color that matches your hair (up on top of my head I use black, on the bottom of my highlights I use brown). Hold your braid as tightly as possible, and bend it over your thumb as seen in Step 1. Keeping the braid bent over your thumb, push a bobby pin in vertically into your braid, seen in Steps 2 and 3. Use as many as you think you need, I need between 2-3 pins depending on how my hair is acting that day.

That's it! You're done! And hopefully your braid looks like this now. It's kind of magic, because no one can tell what is holding your braid together, and you don't have that ugly rubber-band bulge at the bottom. It gives the braid a sexier, undone finish, but it is a little more difficult if you have really thick or heavy hair (Sorry guys!)
If you have finer hair strands like I do, spray your bobby pins with hairspray before you use them, gives them more grip. Unfortunately in this application, putting the bumpy side of the pin down doesn't do much.
This technique works really well with my other two favorite types of braid, the fishtail and the traditional twist!
